Veterans Transition Mentoring
Beyond Your Service: One-on-one mentoring for the human side of military transition.
Most veteran transition support focuses on where you are going. Beyond Your Service focuses on who you are becoming. One-on-one mentoring for the identity, purpose, and belonging that most programs never reach.
BEYOND YOUR SERVICE
Employment programs, skills recognition, business mentoring, career coaching, and entitlements support are all well served by existing organisations.
Beyond Your Service does not compete with any of them. What those programs do not address is the internal dimension of transition: the loss of identity that comes when the rank no longer defines you, the absence of purpose when the mission is gone, and the profound social dislocation of leaving behind the family, team, and shared mission that military life builds.
Research on ADF transition is consistent. The practical challenges, while real, are rarely what derails veterans in the long term. It is the identity fracture, the purpose vacuum, and the loss of belonging that do the most lasting damage. These are the challenges that existing programs were not designed to reach.
Beyond Your Service was designed for exactly that space. And it comes from someone who has navigated every one of those challenges personally.
THE PROGRAM
Beyond Your Service is built around five foundations, each targeting a specific dimension of the transition experience that most programs leave unaddressed.
Identity
Knowing who you are outside the uniform
Military identity is built over years. Beyond Your Service helps you understand what is yours to keep, and build from there.
Capability Translated
Carrying what you have built across the divide
The ADF builds discipline, decisiveness, and accountability that civilian organisations spend years trying to develop. This foundation is about learning to express it in a world where the framework looks completely different.
Purpose Rebuilt
Finding what drives you next
Not career counselling. Meaning-making: reconnecting with the values that drove your service and finding what they look like in the life that follows.
Belonging Re-established
Building community beyond the uniform
This foundation helps you build new social anchors without abandoning what made those bonds meaningful.
Thriving Through Transition
Moving through the hardest change you will face
The qualities that made you effective in service - discipline, resilience, the capacity to operate under pressure - are the same qualities that will carry you through this. This foundation brings the work together in the context of a life deliberately built.
IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?
For an ADF member or recently separated veteran navigating the internal dimension of transition.
Identity, purpose, and the uncertainty of who you are when the rank no longer does the work for you.
ADF members in the six months prior to separation preparing for the human side of transition
Recently separated veterans finding the identity shift harder than expected
Veterans who cannot translate their capability into civilian contexts with confidence
Veterans who feel existing programs address where they are going, but not who they are becoming
Beyond Your Service is for anyone who built their identity around service and is now navigating what comes next, regardless of rank or years served.
WHAT YOU TAKE FROM IT
It’s not measured by how quickly you find work.
It is measured by something harder to count and more important to get right. Participants typically leave with:
A clearly articulated civilian identity that builds on, rather than abandons, their military identity
The language and confidence to articulate their capability and experience in civilian contexts
A renewed sense of purpose grounded in their values, not their role
A stronger social foundation and a clearer sense of how to build belonging outside the military community
A relationship with transition itself that is active and chosen, not passive and endured
